SMP Annual Report
The latest data collected from these annual surveys are presented in the SMP annual report 1986 - 2019.
SMPnews
SMPnews is issued each spring. It compliments the more formal SMP Report of SMP Official Statistics. This newsletter features various articles, news and survey tips.
Seabird Censuses
In addition to the annual monitoring scheme (SMP) there are periodic breeding seabird censuses across the UK and Republic of Ireland, led by JNCC in association with other SMP partners. To date, there have been three breeding seabird censuses completed for Britain and Ireland and results from each have been published as a book: Operation Seafarer (Cramp et al. 1974), Seabird Colony Register (Lloyd et al. 1991) and Seabird 2000 (Mitchell et al. 2004). Results from the fourth, Seabirds Count, will be published in 2023.
Other reporting
Data from SMP is also used for reporting on international conservation agreements, such as the OSPAR Convention, which help inform marine policy and regulation.
